This piece is hand-crafted from white stoneware. It combines modern technique with an ancient Japanese firing method. Small Modern Covered Jar
An exquisite full body tapers down to a delicate base, which lends a certain drama to this piece. The clay bisque is pit-fired, using straw and sawdust, which creates distinct grass patterns, fire clouds, and rich sepia tones. The artist then hand colors the work with its unique design, using metallic paints, oil sticks, acrylics, and textured powdered marble.
